TRILOKSINGH.ORG: As you know that, World No Tobacco Day 2018 will be celebrated all across the world by the people on 31st of May, every year (May 31, 2018, this year). For effectively celebrating the World no Tobacco Day all over the world, WHO selects a special theme every year as central component in order to distribute a global message to the people for more awareness. Other publicity materials for the theme like brochures, posters, fliers, press releases, websites and etc are also provided by the WHO to the members organizing the celebration of World no Tobacco Day.

Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has given the important message on World No Tobacco Day: “World No Tobacco Day reminds us of the harms associated with tobacco consumption and a day to reaffirm our commitment to reduce this menace. The World Health Organization’s focus on stopping illicit trade of tobacco products is a laudatory effort that will help in minimising tobacco consumption.”

Significantly, the intending to aware and encourage people to reduce or completely cycle the tobacco consumption in any form all across the globe. It aims to draw public attention globally to spread the message of harmful effects of tobacco use as well as its complications to others. Variety of global organizations involved in this campaign such as state governments, public health organizations and etc organizes various public awareness programmes locally.
Why is it important to quit
However, our bodies react to nicotine consumption, and withdrawal of it, in weird manners. In many cases, sudden withdrawal of nicotine may have adverse effects. That’s why people resort to nicotine gums or even chewing tobacco at times.

To help you commit, write down your reasons for wanting to quit. For example, quitting prevents possible health effects. It saves you money. It helps you set a good example for family and friends. Keep your personal list where you can see it each day. It will serve to motivate you along the way.
Mark the calendar
Once you decide to quit, set a date and stick to it. Choose a date 2 to 4 weeks from today. Quitting can be hard, so map out a plan that works for you. To start, identify the times and places you normally use smokeless tobacco. Then, plan to avoid these situations or have tobacco substitutes with you. Get rid of all your smokeless tobacco products before your quit date. It may help to cut back on the amount of chew or dip you use before that.
Your family, friends, and doctor can provide support. If possible, find a friend or family member to quit with. Studies have shown that people who quit with a partner are more successful. You also can ask your doctor to recommend a support group that can help you quit.
Some of the activities which are organized for celebrating the day are public marches, demonstrations programmes, big banners, advertising campaigns through educational programs, direct oral communication with common public to encourage and promote them to stop smoking, organize meetings for involved campaigners, marches, public debates, anti-tobacco activities, public art, health camps, rallies and parades, implementing new laws to restrict the smoking in particular areas and so many effective activities. It has not been declared as a public holiday or official holiday however, it is celebrated with lots of effective campaigns.
